Terms & Conditions
Terms and Conditions of Sale. Last updated: 7 October 2026
1. Who you are buying from
Carmelita Limited
71-75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom
Registered in England & Wales, company number 7460877 · VAT number 110 2540 82
info@carmelitawine.com
Our wine is stored at, and dispatched from, a bonded warehouse operated by EHD. Under section 190 of the Licensing Act 2003 a sale of alcohol is treated as taking place where the alcohol is appropriated to the contract, so sales made through this website take place at those premises, which are licensed for the retail sale of alcohol.
Carmelita Limited is approved by HM Revenue & Customs under the Alcohol Wholesaler Registration Scheme, approval number XYAW00000100347. Trade customers may verify this on the HMRC online register.
2. You must be 18 or over
It is an offence to sell alcohol to anyone under 18, and an offence for anyone under 18 to buy it or attempt to. By placing an order you confirm you are 18 or over.
We operate Challenge 25: if you look under 25, you will be asked for photographic ID showing your date of birth. Our carriers are instructed to do the same on delivery, and to refuse handover to anyone who cannot prove they are 18 or over, or who appears intoxicated. Where a delivery is refused on those grounds the order will be returned to us and we will refund the goods but not the delivery cost.
You may not buy alcohol from us on behalf of someone under 18.
3. Prices
All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include UK VAT and duty. The price you see is the total price for the goods — we do not add mandatory fees at checkout. Delivery is charged separately and shown in full before you pay.
Wine is sold by the case. A case is six bottles.
We take reasonable care to price correctly, but if we discover a material pricing error before dispatch we will contact you and you may confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund.
4. Your order
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you a dispatch confirmation. If we cannot fulfil your order — most often because a vintage has sold out — we will tell you and refund you in full.
Our wines are made in small quantities. Where a wine sells out we are usually unable to offer the same vintage again.
5. Delivery
We deliver to all areas of the United Kingdom. Orders are dispatched from our bonded warehouse at Dolphin Road South, Windmill Road, Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, TW16 7HE, and delivery normally takes 2–4 business days.
Delivery is charged at £12.50 per order. Orders over £200.00 are delivered free of charge. The delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay; prices on this site include UK VAT and duty but exclude delivery.
Someone aged 18 or over must be present to receive the delivery and may be asked for ID. We cannot leave wine in a safe place, with a neighbour, or in a parcel locker.
Risk passes to you when the goods are delivered. Delivery timescales are estimates and not guaranteed, but if delivery is materially late you have the rights set out below.
6. If something is wrong with the wine
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the wine must be of satisfactory quality, as described, and fit for purpose. If it is not, you have a short-term right to reject it within 30 days of delivery for a full refund.
Wine is an agricultural product and bottle variation is normal. A corked or faulted bottle is not. Tell us within a reasonable time, keep the bottle and at least half its contents, and we will replace it or refund it. We may ask for a photograph.
Breakages in transit: tell us within 5 working days of delivery and we will replace or refund.
7. Cancelling your order
Because you are buying at a distance, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days from the day you receive the wine to change your mind, for any reason and without explanation. You then have a further 14 days to return it.
To cancel, email info@carmelitawine.com. You may use the model cancellation form but you do not have to.
The wine must come back unopened and in a resaleable condition. You pay the cost of return unless the wine was faulty or not as described. We will refund you within 14 days of getting the wine back, or of your proof of posting, whichever is sooner. If you chose a more expensive delivery option than our standard one we refund the standard cost only.
This right does not apply to gift cards once a code has been issued.
8. Gift cards
Gift cards are issued in the denominations shown, do not expire, may be used against any purchase on this site, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be replaced if lost. Gift cards may only be redeemed by someone aged 18 or over.
9. Our content
Everything on this site — the photography of the vineyard and the winery, the tasting notes, the Carmelita name and marks — belongs to us or is used with permission. You may not reproduce it commercially without our written consent.
10. Reviews
If we publish customer reviews, they are the honest opinions of people who have bought the wine. We do not write reviews ourselves, pay for them, or offer anything in exchange for a favourable one, and we remove any review we believe to be fake.
11. Liability
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, and our total liability for any order is limited to the price you paid for it.
Please enjoy our wine responsibly. The UK Chief Medical Officers advise drinking no more than 14 units a week, spread over three days or more.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
